The Right Gaming PC Case

Cooling, Size, and Features Explained

Which case is recommended for which needs and budget?

What should you look for when buying a gaming PC case?

The foundation of virtually every computer is a functional case. It keeps the hardware compactly organized while protecting it from external influences. Furthermore, a suitable case allows for effective airflow, which ensures better operating temperatures for the system components. This results not only in higher performance but also in a longer lifespan.

In addition to these basic requirements, however, there are numerous distinguishing features that make specific cases stand out for different users. For this reason, MIFCOM offers an extremely extensive selection of gaming PC cases. These can be easily selected in the configurator for the respective system when you want to build a gaming PC

Basic Requirements for Gaming PC Cases

The gaming sector has specific requirements that cases in other market segments do not necessarily have to meet. Since the installed systems must deliver particularly high computing power, heat generation is also higher than, for example, in a simple multimedia or office PC. An adequate cooling solution is therefore essential.

With regard to the case, it must be ensured that there is sufficient space for any heat sinks, fans, or radiators. MIFCOM therefore recommends compatible cases for systems with large cooling solutions.

In the same context, care must be taken to ensure that there is enough space for all planned hardware components. One example is having a sufficient number of hard drive cages for your storage media. Additionally, depending on the length of the graphics cards, there must be enough space in the center of the case.

Different Types of PC Cases

The numerous different types and designs of PC cases are typically categorized first and foremost based on the size of the motherboard they can accommodate. While the Mini-ITX form factor is used for particularly compact systems and Micro-ATX for compact entry-level and mid-range configurations, we use at least the ATX size for our gaming PCs. This motherboard standard has become the norm for high-performance desktop motherboards and, with seven expansion slots, offers sufficient room even for multi-GPU setups and other PCI-based devices. In the MIFCOM configurator, we distinguish between standard, entry-level, and premium cases.

Features of Gaming PC Cases

Standard and entry-level cases offer a good balance of quality and affordability and come from well-known manufacturers. Premium models, on the other hand, offer significantly more features and sophisticated ventilation options if desired. Examples include more extensive input/output ports on the front panel. USB 3.0 and even built-in SD card readers provide additional connectivity. Features such as fan controls and dust filters, on the other hand, address the issue of cooling.

Gaming PC Case Design: Viewing Windows, Materials & Custom Looks

Another important consideration is the case’s appearance. Since this is, as is often the case with design and aesthetics, a highly subjective matter, there are numerous differences among the individual models. If you want your hardware to be visible from the outside because the gaming PC case sits on your desk, a side window is a good option. Many of the premium cases in our lineup offer this feature, and there are also corresponding models in the standard and entry-level ranges.

Materials such as brushed, anodized aluminum can also make a significant visual impact. More affordable models, on the other hand, use plastic parts and steel frames.

Modifications can also be made upon request to achieve a more appealing look. LED lighting in various colors contributes to the system’s unique appearance, as do color-coordinated cable sleeves.
