Rendering Workstations: Maximum Computing Power for Fast Rendering Times

When it comes to rendering, one thing matters above all else: parallel processing power. Depending on the render engine, this comes from two sources: CPU renderers like V-Ray, Cycles, Arnold, and Corona scale with each additional processor core, while GPU renderers like OctaneRender and Redshift scale with each additional graphics card. Our rendering workstations are designed for both pipelines—from high-clock-speed single-GPU systems to multi-GPU render nodes—and reduce render times from hours to minutes.

GPU Rendering: OctaneRender and Redshift scale with each graphics card

The performance of OctaneRender and Redshift is primarily determined by two characteristics of the graphics card: GPU performance and the size of the video memory. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 with 16 GB of VRAM is a good starting point; those who need more performance or video memory for complex scenes should opt for one or more RTX 5090s, each with 32 GB of VRAM. Both engines scale very well with multiple graphics cards; up to four GPUs per system is recommended, ideally with blower coolers for the dense multi-GPU setup.

The processor, on the other hand, has only a limited impact on GPU rendering speed: the number of PCI Express lanes is the decisive factor, as it determines how many graphics cards the system can accommodate. The high-clock-speed AMD Ryzen 9 9900X and 9950X, with their 24 lanes, support a maximum of two graphics cards. For three or four GPUs, platforms with more lanes are required, such as the Intel Xeon W5-2555X or the AMD Ryzen Threadripper series.

CPU Rendering: V-Ray, Cycles, and Corona Scale with Each Core

When it comes to CPU rendering, the equation is simple: more cores mean shorter render times—almost linearly. This is where the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series really shines, all the way up to the Threadripper PRO models with up to 96 cores, eight memory channels, and ECC support. During CPU rendering, the entire scene is held in RAM, so large production scenes require 64 to 128 GB of RAM or more.

Configured for Your Largest Render Projects

Each pre-configured setup is a starting point that you can adapt to your engine, scene sizes, and number of GPUs. In the Workstation Configurator, you can configure your system according to your individual needs. If you’re still deciding whether your pipeline benefits more from cores or graphics cards, our Workstation Buying Guide offers specific recommendations for each use case.

Still modeling the scene yourself? Our 3D workstations are designed for viewport performance. Want to bring the rendered result into an interactive engine? Our game development workstations handle the next step.

Custom-built, tested under full load for continuous operation

Every MIFCOM workstation is custom-built according to your configuration, featuring clean cable management for optimal airflow—which is especially crucial during multi-GPU operation. Before shipment, every system undergoes a stress test lasting several hours under full load, spanning overnight render runs and entire production cycles. We provide a 3-year warranty on all systems, including pick-up & return service, as well as lifetime support.

Studios, render farm operators, and public institutions also benefit from dedicated account managers, quotes for RFP responses, purchase on account, or leasing options. Contact our B2B team directly—by phone, email, or live chat.
