The 13th/14th generation Intel Core processors deliver impressive performance thanks to fundamental innovations. Built using the advanced "Intel 7" manufacturing process, these processors offer unprecedented performance in both applications and games. Compared to the 12th generation, performance gains of over 15% (single-thread) and over 40% (multi-thread) are possible. The use of
efficiency cores has been refined: 13th and 14th generation Intel processors rely on a combination of performance cores for maximum performance and efficiency cores for low power consumption. In conjunction with Windows 11, these different CPU cores are allocated appropriately for the respective applications and games. Compared to the 12th Gen Intel processors, the maximum number of efficiency cores has been doubled—up to 16 cores are possible.
Also improved: Intel Raptor Lake natively supports significantly higher clock speeds for DDR5 memory, up to 5600MHz. In addition to DDR5, the new PCIe 5.0 interface also sets the stage for the future. When paired with motherboards featuring the Z690 and Z790 chipsets, the graphics card has 16x PCIe 5.0 lanes at its disposal, meaning future generations of graphics cards won’t face any limitations from the PCIe slots.
With the introduction of the Socket 1700 and the corresponding motherboards, you can also look forward to additional features: most motherboards now support the fast Wi-Fi standard AX201, and a 2.5 Gbps LAN port is often included. Thunderbolt 4.0 is also optionally available on compatible motherboards. Furthermore, the high-speed USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 standard is now natively supported. The power delivery stages on many motherboards from
our premium partners ASUS, MSI, ASRock, and Gigabyte have also been significantly beefed up to handle the increased power draw of these new PCs and overclocking.
Exclusively for 14th-generation processors, Intel offers its Application Optimization software: Intel optimizes selected games for even higher performance.
